http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/17642/london-2012-olympic-coin-designs-revealed.html - Continuing on a tradition dating back to the 1952 Helsinki Olympic games, the
official UK £5 coins of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games have been revealed. Birmingham School of Architecture student Saiman Miah's design of the Olympic coin features the London skyline next to the river Thames with pictograms of athletes revolving around the circumference of the surface, much like the face of a clock. 'As an architecture student I wanted to include a detailed impression of London's iconic skyline on my design,' says Saiman. '[The pictograms is] a reference to another London icon, Big Ben.'

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/19328/get-ahead-of-the-games-ease-of-olympic-travel-campaign.html - International marketing agency
M+C Saatchi has created 'get ahead of the games', a national advertising campaign to help raise awareness of travel delays, tips and planning for inhabitants and visitors in London during the 2012 Olympic and paralympic games. The campaign was developed to engage with various methods of communication, covering social media, website and printed distribution, decorating newspapers, cell phones and metro stations alike. In anticipation of the games, organisations such as transport for London, the Olympic delivery authority, the mayor of London, national rail, highways agency and department for transport are working collaboratively to release up to date information about city transportation through the 'get ahead of the game' website and twitter feed. The light-hearted illustrations developed display digitised caricatures of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, wearing the apparel of their sport, causing a disruption in the normal flow of commuter traffic.

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/21754/mwm-graphics-and-attik-london-2012-olympics-coca-cola-branding.html - The first phase of art was to create this hyper detailed, abstract rendition of COCA COLA LONDON 2012. From this master file we extracted dozens of 'moments' that became the graphic asset library.

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/21759/turner-duckworth-team-usa-coca-cola-cans.html - The Coca-Cola Olympic games campaign highlights the Coca-Cola 8 pack of athletes, graphically captured in action within their sports. The designs cleverly use patriotic stripes to convey movement and context for the different sports. The cans will rotate throughout the summer with a new one hitting the market every 2 weeks, culminating with a can featuring a special composite logo in time for the opening of the Olympic games.  There are 6 different fridgepack versions launching in 2 phases.  Designs are also extended across larger can packs, bottle labels, and mini cans. The designs will also appear on in-store displays, premiums and select TV spots.

and architects along with kbw design have recently revealed the BP pavilion for the upcoming 2012 Olympic games in London. The initial striking feature of the pavilion is the expansive mirror facade that displays all activity happening in its proximity. The experience also includes the 'walk in the park' installation, a free standing angled structure which contains a convex mirror that allows the individual to pose in front of the reflected backdrop of the Olympic stadium.

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/10/view/22599/banksy-london-olympics-2012.html - Prominent street artist
Banksy has produced two new pieces commenting on the 2012 London Olympics. The pole vaulter and missile brandishing javelin thrower are amongst a debate surrounding the removal of graffiti in London in preparation for the upcoming Olympics. Because his work is considered one of the great attractions of the city, controversy has been directed towards that of Banksy in particular, as a past event in which his 2007 stencils were painted over by Bristol street cleaners was considered a mistake.
